In the design of drainage engineering, in particular, in the analysis and hydraulicrncalculation of a drainage system, the location of primary and secondary drainagernpaths is a kind of foundation work. However, at present, the location of primary andrnsecondary drainage paths in commonly used software for the design of drainagernengineering still depends on the users’ manual designation, which causes errorsrneasily with low efficiency and without any automation. To implement the autolocationrnof primary and secondary drainage paths, this paper applies graph theory tornanalyze the characteristic for the composition and the data structure of a drainagernsystem, an effective method based on the length is proposed. The method is designedrnand implemented by the iterative idea on the basis of the shortest-path algorithm andrnits performance is proven by the engineering practices described in this paper. It canrnbe widely used in the analysis and related hydraulic calculation of a drainage system.
