Production of acetone, butanol and ethanol (ABE) from lignocellulosic or starchy agorwastes

Chemical hydrolysis of rice husks, bagasse, mulberry twigs and domestic organic waste (DOW) showed a potential source of 22, 43, 45 and 15 g glucose/100g dry matter, respectively. However, a combination of mild chemical pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis yielded, at the most, only half of the glucose present in rice husks, bagasse and mulberry twigs. Sugar extraction from DOW was virtually complete.
