Introduction

The Eighth International Conference on Advanced Optical Materials and Devices continued the traditions of the AOMD conferences previously held in three Baltic countries-Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The conference program was structured in four sessions: (ⅰ) Advanced Optical Materials, (ⅱ) Optical Nanostructures, (ⅲ) Photonic Devices and Technical Applications, and (ⅳ) Bio-optical Methods and Medical Applications. 10 invited plenary talks were presented, along with 15 oral and 30 poster presentations. An EC COST BM1205 project workshop with five presentations on optical methods and devices for cancer diagnostics took place in frame of this conference as well.
