The extraction of drawbells in Lift #2 at Northparkes Mines E26 orebodyrnwas achieve by single shot blasting,enabled through the use ofrnelectronic detonators.This paper discusses the designs considered at therntime of the feasibility study and the various changes made to theserndesigns prior to and during the construction phase of the Lift #2 blockrncave.Operational issues encountered are highlighted,as are ways inrnwhich these were overcome.The amount of personnel utilised to mine therndrawbells is also covered.Lists of design and operational considerationsrnto be used for drawbell extractions have been included.
