Design and Implementation of Mobile Node Access Board for Integrated Gateway System in the 3G Mobile Networks

In the trend of network convergence, many new technologies have emerged for the efficient usage and the management of the network resources and the network has been evolved toward the next generation network (NGN) and the all-IP network. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has tried to harmonize between the CDMA2000 and the WCDMA and currently approved the convergence between the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) for the effective multimedia service in the WCDMA and the Multi-Media Domain (MMD) for the effective multimedia service in the CDMA2000. In advanced, we felt the needs of the integrated gateway for Internet access from the different mobile access network and called the Advanced Mobile internet Data Access System (A-MiDAS). A-MiDAS is the packet gateway system for the wire and wireless Internet access and fulfills an important role of the Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) defined by 3GPP2 and the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) defined by 3GPP. In this paper, we introduce the A-MiDAS and describe the design and implementation of the MNAB (Mobile Node Access Board Assembly) which is the key component of A-MiDAS.
