Interoperativity Proposal between Distributed Firewalls and Distributed IDS

Over the last few years distributed defense has become necessary. While conventional firewalls are evolving to personal and Distributed Firewalls (DFW), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are being deployed across networks. At this scenario, interoperativity and correlation between both security mechanisms become appropriate. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the architecture and protocols that should be developed over the existing ones in order to make Distributed IDS (DIDS) and DFW communicate and collaborate safely.
