Presentation of a New Efficient Software Package for Monitoring and Controlling Performance of a Combined LAN Topology

摘要

The primary goal of this paper is to propose a flexible and easy to use intelligent software package to aid the designers of architecture and protocol of computer networks. It is specially targeted, but not limited to a hybrid star-bus local area network. This network architecture has a capability of using a partitioning technique for the connecting stations to minimize the collision problems and delay in transmitting packets from station to another station. The proposed tool allows user to monitor, observe and control the performance of the above described network. Facilities to perform parametric studies and provide user specified output measures as: link utilization, network throughput and delays are available in the presented package.
