Cementless total hip arthroplasty was performed using the pin-based ROBODOC system in 75 hips of 69 patients with osteoarthritis secondary to hip dysplasia. Preoperative planning was made from preoperative CT data using the workstation (ORTHODOC). Intraoperatively the robot milled the inside of the femoral canal according to the preoperative plan. CT data was taken again a month after total hip arthroplasty. The mean differences between the preoperative planning and the postoperative CT images were less than 1 mm. The mean differences in the medio-lateral and anteroposterior alignment were less than 1°. The ROBODOC can clinically prepare the femoral canal precisely as surgeons planned preoperatively.
