Currently, technological fields in Japan need to be inspected from various aspects, i.e., there is a concerted recognition of the necessity of the conversion of current scientific and technological paradigms and a fundamental change in the standards and systems in science and technology. The high-level systematization , phenomena which are unimaginable under previous framework based on common sense arise. Scientific study of the state of the boundary of each part and how each part behaves with respect to another part when many parts are connected has not been sufficiently performed, and basic measures for the utilization of resources have not been established. These problems can ultimately be attributed to the lack of engineers fulfilling their responsibility, thus indicating that these are ethics problems. Accordingly, the interaction between design engineering and ethics is questioned. In this study, the present situation, which requires engineers involved in science and technology to recognize their social responsibility and have a high ethical philosophy, as well as ethics education in the field of design are examined, focusing on the following two items: 1) Necessity of ethics education. 2) Ethics in design education and method of introducing.
