Vertical round trip time of sound wave in the ocean depends upon temperature, salinity and pressure. It is possible to separate it into two kinds of traveling time: the one is traveling time dependent on temperature and salinity, and the other is traveling time dependent on a constant value and pressure by using a equation for sound speed. We developed [1,2] the "multipaths inverted echo sounder (MIES)" in order to monitor depth-integrated heat content of the Kuroshio from vertical round trip time of sound wave. We tried the measurement of depth-integrated heat content from vertical round trip time by using inverted echosounders deployed on the sea bottom. In this paper, we presents measured results of depth-integrated heat content of the Kuroshio over Izu Ridge from May to August 1995.
