ITS Status Developments in Korea Asian situations Regional Cooperation

This country paper presentation for senior forum(E1 session) on ITSrnconsists of two parts. Part 1 consists of 3 chapters for ITSrndevelopment in Korea covering assessment of transportationrnenvironment, ITS development plan & implementation while part Ⅱ isrncomposed of 5 chapters for Asian situations & regional cooperationrncovering Asian transportation environment, threats & challengers torndeployment & use of ITS, ITS education / training in current & future,rnregional / international cooperation and conclusion.rnThe author will do his best to give general picture and currentrnstatus of ITS activities in Korea focusing on review of currentrnconditions of transportation ITS developments and its implementationrnas well as Asian environment together with threats & challenges torndeployment & use of ITS in the 21st Century and ITS education /rntraining in current & future to support ITS activities with anrnemphasis on policy direction and international cooperation as arnconclusionrnThis 4th Asia-Pacific international seminar is a quite important forumrnfor ITS community members and participants from all over the Asia-rnPacific countries but providing opportunity not only to review andrnevaluate their own problems of transportation, but also to exchangerntheir views among representatives from industrial and transitionalrneconomies with the recognition of importance of ITS technologyrnintroduction & implementation in order to improve theirrntransportation problems.
