Generation of single-sentence paraphrases frompredicate/argument structure using lexico-grammatical resources

Paraphrases, which stem from the va-rnriety of lexical and grammatical meansrnof expressing meaning available in arnlanguage, pose challenges for a sen-rntence generation system. In thisrnpaper, we discuss the generation ofrnparaphrases from predicate/argumentrnstructure using a simple, uniform gen-rneration methodology. Central to ourrnapproach are lexico-grammatical re-rnsources which pair elementary seman-rntic structures with their syntactic re-rnalization and a simple but powerfulrnmechanism for combining resources.
