A Patent Document Retrieval System AddressingBoth Semantic and Syntactic Properties

Combining the principle of DifferentialrnLatent Semantic Index (DLSI) (Chen etrnal., 2001) and the Template MatchingrnTechnique (Tokuda and Chen, 2001), wernpropose a new user queries-based patentrndocument retrieval system by NLP technology.rnThe DLSI method first narrowsrndown the search space of a sought-afterrnpatent document by content search andrnthe template matching technique thenrnpins down the documents by exploitingrnthe words-based template matchingrnscheme by syntactic search. Comparedrnwith the synonymous search scheme byrnthesaurus dictionaries, the new methodrnresults in an improved overall retrievalrnefficiency of patent documents.
