A Coriolis sensor measures mass flow rate by vibrating a fluid conveying tube. The time delay between zero crossings is proportional to mass flow rate. Actual Coriolis sensors exhibit non-zero time delay with no mass flow. Predicting this non-zero time delay is the subject of this paper. A simplified finite element model of a dual tube Coriolis sensor is presented in which the tune-delay sensing elements are modeled. A mass imbalance between the sensor tubes is also modeled. A forced response analysis predicts a non-zero time delay with no mass flow. This time delay is viewed in a simplified manner by looking at the modal domain transformation of the forcing function and the physical response.
