C-17A change-a-gain system flight and ground testing

The C-17A flight test aircraft has a Change-A-Gain System that was developed to evaluate flight control system modifications in flight (and on ground) and to allow an onboard,in-flight (and on-ground) back-to-back comparison of various gains.The purpose of the Change-A-Gain system is to: 1 Expedite development of the Electronic Flight Control System through in flight evaluation of a limited number of changes to control law gains,and 2. Confirm ground test and simulator results through in flight evaluation to determine the proper gain modification for the next software update.
