PA Bridge Risk Assessment Strategy

Bridges and other structures that comprise transportation systems, as well as all infrastructure systems, have a certain level of risk resulting from natural disaster, structure failure, and security-related causes. Knowledge and management of all bridge and structure risk levels is vital in maintaining a functional, cost-effective, and safe transportation system. PennDOT has developed a risk assessment to establish risk levels for all Department-owned bridge types and structures within the Department's inventory and established measures to mitigate risks over a period of time.
