Air turbulence is perceived as a major problemrnfor MAV outdoor applications. It seemsrnreasonable to use MAVs in these situationsrnproviding the flow is attached to the controlrnsurfaces even at high angles of attack. This willrnensure effective control during turbulence.rnDelta wings are known to have excellentrnlarge angle of attack qualities. However,rnquantitative data about leading edge vortexrneffectiveness at low Reynolds numbers were notrnavailable, so an experiment was undertaken tornmeasure them. Generally, the effect appeared tornbe similar to that obtained for large aeroplanesrnincluding advantages of leading edge extensionsrn(LEX). There was no observed negative effect ofrnLEX/propeller interference. In fact an increasernof stall angle was observed as a result of thernpropulsion operation.rnThe following presents force andrnvisualisation results from a series of MAVrnconfigurations.
