摘要

Mechanical characterization of biomaterials at the nano-' and micro-scale, from hard to soft in mechanical nature, has traditionally faced a wide scope of challenges, including difficulty in probing individual microstructural tissue components, testing at small scales in vitro (hydrated), developing efficient methodologies for correlating mechanical properties with tissue age, and in developing the mechanical test method itself. In this work, two distinctly different biomaterials (bone and cartilage) were studied using novel nanoindentation-methods.
