The objective of the Capra team from the école dernTechnologie Supérieure University is to build anrnautonomous vehicle with the necessary infrastructure andrntools to navigate through a set environment andrnaccomplish a wide range of missions. Versatile movementrncapabilities, accurate positioning algorithms, effectiverncontrol, easy navigation, environmental mapping andrndynamic path finding are the major elements that ourrnteam has concentrated its effort on for the past two years.rnThe successful implementation of these tools has givenrnthe vehicle the ability to compete successfully in tworndifferent competitions: the ION Autonomous LawnmowerrnCompetition (Automow) and the Intelligent GroundrnVehicle Competition (IGVC). The required tasksrnconsisted of mowing a predefined field, avoiding staticrnand moving obstacles and navigating in a known orrnunknown environment. The current vehicle, at its secondrnyear of existence, has finished in second place for therndynamic challenge at the ION Autonomous LawnmowerrnCompetition in 2007 and in fifth place for the autonomousrnchallenge at the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competitionrnin 2007.
