The pooling problem addresses the storage of intermediate refinery streams underrnlimited tankage conditions by optimizing profit subject product availability, storagerncapacity, demand, and product specifications. We extend the pooling problem byrnexplicitly incorporating the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Title 40 Code ofrnFederal Regulations Part 80.45: Complex Emissions Model into the constraint set. Wernglobally optimize pooling problem networks with as many as fourteen feeds, five pools,rnand ten products (Misener et al., 2010; Misener and Floudas, 2009). We further extendrnthis work by parametrically analyzing the economic impact varying of the differentrninputs to the EPA model.
