摘要

On the basis of the Threshold Selection Method from Gray-Level Histograms (Otsu), a counting algorithm based on image contours is proposed for counting the steel bars. The image is binary based on the Threshold Selection Method from Gray-Level Histograms, and the binary image contours were extracted and classified as single steel bar contours or multiple steel bar contours. Mark and sum the steel bars by different contours. The result showed that the new algorithm can remove the interference of non-uniform illumination and other noises, and the computation time satisfies the real-time requirements, it has showed certain practical application value in industry.
