This paper reports a novel potential modulated amino acid sensing chip by modifying Ti3C2Tx, a typical 2D transition metal carbides (MXene), on the substrate of total internal reflection imaging ellipsometry (TIRIE) biosensor. Thanks to the prominent capacity of MXene, the positive charged arginine, a conditionally essential amino acid that plays an important role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function, and the release of hormones, can adsorb on the TIRIE biosensor substrate abundantly when a potential is applied to the sensing surface. This work has demonstrated the extraordinary capacity of MXene can be used for the detection of charged bio-molecules for the first time.
