In this paper, the structure characteristics of long circular coil of the double winding distribution transformer are introduced firstly, and the calculation method is presented in the case of the transformer of SCB10-1250/10/0.4. Secondly, the transformer is modeled through 3D magnetostatic field analysis in Ansoft-Maxwell, where simulation calculation of the short-circuit reactance is based on the energy method. Finally, the short-circuit reactance is tested that carried out to prove the correctness of the presented calculation method. The numerical error of the short-circuit reactance is less than 3% through an analytical comparison among the three results. Measurement results show that the short-circuit reactance of long-circular windings of distribution transformers have been calculated accurately by simulation calculation and it can meet the requirements of the engineering applications.
