Readiness towards migrating to “Ecole-Numerique” for primary schooling in Mauritius

`Ecole-Numerique' or Digital Schooling has become an emerging trend for primary schooling worldwide. This paper attempts to assess the readiness of educators and schools in the migration from “Informatique” to “ÉcoleNumerique” for young learners at primary levels. A case study was drawn from two french private schools X and Y in Mauritius. To achieve this aim, the TAM model was adapted as guideline to analyze some imperative factors affecting educators in adopting e-teaching tools. A combination of both quantitative and qualitative methods was used to collect data. A questionnaire was distributed to primary school educators to gather findings of their current adoption of e-education tools and the Information Technology (IT) officers were interviewed to investigate the present schools' IT infrastructure, the level of computer skills/knowledge and the factors affecting educators in adopting the e-teaching tools. The survey findings have contributed to look for possible further e-tools requirements to be integrated in the new school technological plan. Findings show that although the educators are equipped with the basic ICT skills and knowledge towards this new migration, yet there are some additional critical success requirements for its proper deployment. Recommendations are based on the implementation of robust and reliable network connection architecture in the classrooms and an updated training strategy for the continuous development of the educators.
