In this paper, the tapered waveguide structure for quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifiers (QD-SOA's) is introduced and formulated for the first time. It's observed that by employing the tapered waveguide, gain as the main feature of the device shows more stability while the optical signal is passing through the active region.
