Research on electromagnetic wave frequency-field transmission characteristics of partial discharge in GIS is important for the examination of partial discharge within GIS. Finite element software was employed to conduct the simulation study on frequency-field transmission of the electromagnetic wave in GIS, and the experiment for electromagnetic wave transmission characteristics was developed in the lab. The simulation data and experimental results showed that there would be "resonance" when the electromagnetic wave was transmitted within GIS; along the radical direction of GIS, the electric field amplitude was wavily envelope-distributed. The center frequency in the internal sensor was selected as the resonance frequency. The sensor was placed near the position of insulator as much as possible, which can enhance the sensitivity of partial discharge detection.
