This paper elaborates on the outcome of a pilot study of academic performance of international ICT students at CPIT (New Zealand). It covers an overview of benefits and drawback of e-Learning and assesses situations where e-Learning can offer benefits. The case study is used for a preliminary assessment of suitability of e-Learning for non-English ICT students studying at CPIT. The assessment is done by an examination of their academic performance of students in a focus group. The initial outcome of this particular case study suggests that e-Learning is not suitable for this group. However, there are benefits in combining e-Learning and face-to-face education.
