Exploring the Impact of Quality Management Practices on Innovation: The Mediating Role of Organizational Learning

Scholars have investigated the impact of quality management practices (QM practices) on innovation, but still there exists conflicting arguments, and the mechanism of how QM practices impact on innovation is still unclear. Thus, this paper develops a integrated framework for exploring this two issues. This study shows that infrastructure practices positively impact on radical innovation through the role of explorative learning, and core practices positively effect on incremental innovation through the role of exploitative learning. On the whole, QM practices have a positive impact on the firm's innovation, and organizational learning acts as mediating variable in understanding the impact of QM practices on innovation.
