The paper present two studies related to the volleyball jump spiking. The first study identifies and describes the kinematic characteristics of the volleyball one-foot and two-foot back row jump spikes. Eight elite male players participated in this study. The results indicated that the one-foot back-row spike had a greater approach of center of mass (CM) velocity and a shorter spiking time than that of the two-foot back-row spike. The swing leg of one-foot jump spike contributing forward momentum of the jump during the support phase. The second study describes the biomechanical characteristics of the one-foot jump spike by the female players. Four elite female players were served as subjects. It was noted that female one-foot jump spikers had a smaller ball velocity and lower jumped height than the male two-foot jump spikers. In addition, the female one-foot jump spikers had a greater approach body angle and a smaller approach net angle than the male two-foot jump spikers; they also had a wider view and maximize the hitting area during the spike action.
