In this paper, the principle of predicting coal and methane outburst with electromagnetic emission (EME) is discussed. Based on an experimental research of predicting the danger of coal and methane outburst of digging face, a new method of comprehensive analysis prediction is put forward. This method is centered around EME prediction while other traditional predictions (drilling slack yields S, drilling slack methane desorption index Δh_2 , borehole methane emission initial speed q ) play auxiliary roles. The defects of traditional predictions and the advantages of comprehensive analysis prediction are pointed out and then these predicting methods are applied in coal and methane outburst prediction of heading face. The applying results show that the method of comprehensive analysis prediction has many advantages, such as easy measurement, short predicting time, low labor intensity and high accuracy. The application of the method can raise labor productivity and hardly influences normal work.
