摘要

The microstructure of a material rather than the processing condition is the state parameter ofrnmaterial properties. We report on activities of microstructural through-process modelingrnactivities to predict the properties of a processed product from the knowledge of the processingrnconditions and the chemical composition of the material. The respective modeling tools arernintroduced. As an example we address aluminum sheet fabrication and material behavior duringrnsubsequent sheet metal forming. Using additionally atomistic modeling tools for the predictionrnof thermodynamic, kinetic and elastic data provides promising avenues for a comprehensivernmulti-scale modeling of materials processing.
