IN BRINGS MOBILITY TO THE FIXED NETWORK

One of the key-issues in today's telecommunications scene is the ever increasing mobility of the subscribers.Up till now,this mobility was the prerogative of dedicated networks based on a wide range of technologies.The evolution of IN services and the fact that the processing power of the IN platform is continuously increasing,brings also a limited mobility to the existing fixed network.It also offers a roaming capability and service transparency to the user.It gives an advantage over the traditional cellular systems,since full indoors coverage is supported.Still the service aims at a tariff advantage over customers of traditional cellular networks.The document also tries to pinpoint a number of business-opportunities for such a network and investigates how this new service could interact with existing mobile systems,like GSM900 or DCS1800.
