An IP mobility management (IPv4 or IPv6) is proposed in localized domains that include fixed and mobile, network-based connection points. The localized domain has a receiving device for all packets destined for the domain. This device (N-LMA) stores information on the connection point (fixed or mobile) to which the nodes (terminals or mobile connection points) in the domain are stored in an association table. If the node is connected to a mobile connection point, packets are re-sent through the fixed connection point to which said mobile connection point is connected. The connection points detect the nodes that connect to them and notify the receiving device to update its table. Thus, a terminal can move in the domain, change connection point, connect to a mobile connection point and move connected to it, always without changing the IP address.
