RELEVANCE OF EMC SPECIFICATION IN ISO 9000/IS 14000 SCENARIO

The control of Radio Frequency Emission from Electrical and Electronic devices has been a requirement for the past 50 years all over the world. This requirement is gaining importance day by day due to all round progress and more occupation of the EM spectrum by the upcoming devices. Though theoretically, the occupancy is only a tiny band compared to the total EM band, but because of the limitations in technology, the crowding in the usable band is ever increasing.rnA company coming under the quality system requirements of ISO-9000/ IS-14000 series has to fulfil the quality clause under 8.4.2 of IS14004-1. 1994 for safety and environmental compatibility. Such standards which need to be met by the process/ facility during the development of the product needs to be made available to the intending companies/ customers. This issue has been discussed in this paper indicating the preferred ranges based on the IEC standards.
