Analysis of Agricultural Households′Consumption Behavior under the Condition of Self-sufficiency

A wide range of papers focus attention on agricultural households′ consumption behavior by studying in the respective of econometrical modeling and many empirical results were concluded. However, a lack of basically theoretical tools used for the study on agricultural households′ consumption behavior makes the previous literatures concerning the issue seem to be castles in the air. Thus, a new analytical method should be developed to be fit for agricultural households, especially for ones in developing countries such as China, as a theoretical base of empirical analysis. Under the condition of self-sufficiency, the consumption set and the budget set of agricultural households will be firstly defined by applying set theory in this paper, and then the indifference curve and the budget line of agricultural households will be deducted in condition of some appropriate assumptions. Finally, by using theory of optimization the equilibrium optima of agricultural households′ consumption demand will be discussed in detail and some deductions will be listed.
