In order to clarify the mechanism such as makes the cavity filling optimize by one-time() switchingrnof the injection velocity in a die casting process, a series of experiments and computer simulationrnhave been done using the water or the low melting-temperature alloy. SOLA-MAC simulation methodrnusing both continuity and Navier-Stokes equations is applied to analyze the cavity filling behavior forrnswitching the injection velocity during the injection. The validity of model is clarified. A perfomancernindex to obtain the appropriate filling behavior with the defects-free of casting products is proposed.rnGood conditions to switch the injection velocity from a low speed to a high speed are obtained byrncomputer simulations.
