In order to clarify the mechanism such as makes the cavity filling optimize by one-time's switching of the injection velocity in a die casting process, a series of experiments and computer simulation have been done using the water or the low melting-temperature alloy. SOLA-MAC simulation method using both continuity and Navier-Stokes equations is applied to analyze the cavity filling behavior for switching the injection velocity during the injection. The validity of model is clarified. A perfomance index to obtain the appropriate filling behavior with the defects-free of casting products is proposed. Good conditions to switch the injection velocity from a low speed to a high speed are obtained by computer simulations.
