Mechanical properties of bioactive titanium metal prepared by NaOH and heat treatments were evaluated by tensile strength and fatigue tests, in comparison with those of untreated titanium metal. The bioactive titanium metal showed tensile and yield strengths, reduction area and elongation almost same with those of untreated titanium metal. Plotting S-N curves showed that the bioactive titanium metal has almost same fatigue behavior with that of the untreated titanium metal. Microstructure of the bioactive titanium metal was almost same with that of the untreated titanium metal. It was therefore concluded that the NaOH and heat treatments, which provide titanium metal with a high bioactivity, give no adverse effect on mechanical properties of the metal.
