the multi-analyte PCR-CLEIA allows detection and typing of seven HPV DNAs with the required sensitivity and specificity. Having the plate a conventional 86x128 mm frame, the CL measurement could be performed in a microtiter plate luminometer, which is available in many laboratories, provided that the xy position of the wells to be measured can be custom programmed. In the future the novel microtiter plate format should also allow the development of other multi-analyte assays for a given pathological condition, providing easily performed panels of tests for specific diseases. The tests could involve detection of cDNA, RNA, antigens, antibodies, haptens, and receptors by separate immobilization of the specific capture probes within each main well. Such simultaneous quantification of independent biomarkers could have considerable diagnostic potential in various clinical situations.
