The Ni sulphide ore deposits of the Thompson Nickel Belt (YNB) represent one of the four principal Ni camps in Canada.Past production from Thompson is 2,500 kt Ni:current 43-101 compliant reserves are 27.54 million tonnes @.1.75％ Ni for the Thompson and Birchtree Deposits.The TNB is part of the Churchill-Superior Boundary Zone at the north-western edge of the Superior Craton.The exposed part of the Belt is about 180 km long and 30 km wide:it is comprised of Archean gneiss-migmatite basement upon which the Paleoproterozoic Ospwagan Group had been unconformably deposited and both have subsequently been overprinted by the Hudsonian polyphase deformation event (Figure 1A).
