To design an ideal mechanical actuator, a mathematical model of skeletal muscle has been proposed and contraction behavior has been simulated. The proposed model consists of an elastic element, a viscosity element, and mass. The elastic and viscosity elements are connected in a parallel mode each other. A motion equation and a principle of energy conservation were applied to the model. Energyrnconsumption rate per a muscle unit, efficiency of energy conversion for contraction, the elastic modulus, viscosity and mass were assumed to calculate a muscle contraction rate. The model can be applied to design an optimum actuator and evaluate regenerated muscle tissue.
