THE INFLUENCE OF NETWORK STRUCTURES IN A MODEL OF TECHNOLOGICAL EVOLUTION

A recently introduced model of technological evolution endowed with simple rules of local adaptation to exogenous innovations showed remarkably complex dynamics reminiscent of the rich behaviour observed in socio-economic environments. In this new work the goal has been to include in the model recent findings and suggestions from the study of social networks. The outcomes presented in this paper show that this extension is of great interest, not only because of the observed enhancement of the performance of the system, but mainly because it is part of an ongoing promising research project addressing the interplay between dynamics and structure.
