Weeds have been a major constraint in crop production since the start of farming as early as10,000 years ago till now. Different methods of weed control have been developed in the history ofmankind, but no one method has satisfied to all situations, and no method has been abandoned inweed control practice. New methods of weed control have been progressively creating new problemsas the number of people and the acreage employing the new method increase. Thus, weed scienceand technology of weed management expand and expand, requiring for more people to work onweed science. In recent years adoption in culture and increase in the acreage of herbicide-resistantgenetically modified crop creates benefits to farmers, companies and consumers, while that createsnew problems in agriculture as well as socially and environmentally. This paper tries to close upimmediate topics of weed science in the age of molecular science and biotechnology that weedscientists have to challenge.
