The hematopoietic system was damaged and the leukemia may be triggered chronic poisoning in long-term exposing benzene. This paper explores a method which to extract and concentrate benzene slightly soluble in soft drinks by the use of automatic headspace (HS) solid-phase micro extraction (SPME).The Auto-HS-SPME procedure was much more sensitive and exhibited better precision compared to auto-headspace (HS).The detection limit was found to be 3.3ng/ml, with the precision less than 5% (R.S.D.).In order to evaluate the suitability of this method, the samples were supported from drinks sold in supermarkets.From this work, it was found that the recovery is between 87.7% and 98.3%, which has potential use for benzene determination in soft drinks.
