Bile acid reuse inhibitors for the treatment of hyperbileemia and cholestasis liver disease

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and a method for treating or ameliorating hypercholestasis or cholestasis liver disease. Hypercholestasis or bile by administering to an individual in need a therapeutically effective amount of an apical sodium-dependent bile transporter inhibitor (ASBTI) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Methods for treating or ameliorating cholestasis liver disease are provided. It also treats or ameliorate liver disease and lowers serum bile acid levels or hepatic bile acid levels, including the step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of ASBTI or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to an individual in need. Methods are provided for treating or ameliorating pruritus, reducing liver enzymes, or reducing bilirubin. [Selection diagram] Fig. 3
