Aspects of the present invention relate to a control system for a base vehicle. The control system comprises one or more control units. The control system is configured to associate navigation data for the host vehicle with a value indicating a time; determines an indication of the time elapsed since that date; and deactivates the use of navigation data based on the result of the determination.
