A compression driver for an omnidirectional loudspeaker includes a motor assembly and a dome diaphragm, which is arranged coaxially over the motor assembly and is operationally connected to it, wherein the diaphragm has a convex surface and a concave surface. The compression driver includes a phase plug with an upper section and a lower section having a concave floor surface adjacent to the convex surface of the membrane, defining a compression chamber in between. The phase plug includes a variety of wires extending through the lower section,so that the sound waves can propagate and converge to form an annular output, wherein the upper portion includes a plurality of radially expanding channels acoustically connected to the annular output. The actuation of the diaphragm by the motor assembly generates sound waves in the compression chamber that propagate through the annular output and radially expanding channels to generate a generally horizontal 360° radiation pattern of the sound waves of the compression driver.
