Provided is an abductive reasoning device (1) comprising: a generation unit (11) that generates a candidate hypothesis from background knowledge, which is a predetermined set of rules specifying that a consequent is true if an antecedent is true, and a query representing observed information by using a formula; a constraint determination unit (12) that determines whether or not the generated candidate hypothesis contradicts a logical constraint to be satisfied, and excludes the candidate hypothesis from a set of generated candidate hypotheses when the candidate hypothesis contradicts the logical constraint to be satisfied; and a search unit (13) that searches for a solution hypothesis on the basis of the set excluding the candidate hypothesis, and outputs the solution hypothesis.
