One aspect of the acylcarnitine analysis method according to the present invention is a method for analyzing C5 acylcarnitine using a tandem mass spectrometry analysis device, the method comprising: a measurement step for subjecting a specimen to an MRM measurement by MRM transition at at least one of m/z 246 > 187, m/z 246 > 57, m/z 246 > 41 or m/z 246 > 29; and a processing step for discriminating between isovalerylcarnitine and pivaloylcarnitine, which is an isomer of isovalerylcarnitine, in the specimen or for determining as to whether or not pivaloylcarnitine is contained in C5-acylcarnitine in the specimen by employing the basis of measurement results obtained in the measurement step. It becomes possible to satisfactorily discriminate between isovalerylcarnitine and pivaloylcarnitine which have been difficult to be discriminated from each other so far.
