A design method and fabrication method for a digital shell-shaped dental appliance and a design system thereof. The design method comprises: acquiring a digital dental model (S100); acquiring each single digital tooth model on the basis of the digital dental model, and preprocessing each single digital tooth model to acquire a digital dentition model having an undercut to be filled (S200); on the basis of the digital dentition model having an undercut to be filled, generating a surface region of a digital shell-shaped dental appliance having an undercut to be filled (S300); performing an undercut filling treatment on two adjacent digital teeth regions in the surface region of the digital shell-shaped dental appliance having an undercut to be filled, so as to generate a digital shell-shaped dental appliance comprising an undercut filling (S400). By designing a digital shell-shaped dental appliance having an undercut filling, not only can manually filling undercuts be avoided, but the automatic preparation of a shell-shaped dental appliance can also be achieved, and the production efficiency and quality of the shell-shaped dental appliance can be improved.
